The Barnstable County Agricultural Society held its first fair, consisting primarily of livestock and handicraft
exhibits, in October of 1844 at the County Court House in Barnstable Village. This summer will mark an
important milestone – the 175th Anniversary since the Fair began! We welcome you to join us in celebrating
this banner year, and become part of the history of the Fair on Cape Cod.
And with this special anniversary, we revisited some old
Barnstable County Fair programs, and were surprised
to find several businesses that advertised in our Programs then, are still doing business on the Cape just like us!
We hope you enjoy this year’s Fair and will continue to bring your friends and family for many years to come!
